2026 - 2027 Catalog

Transfer of General Education Science Credits for School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences

Science courses covered by this policy:

  • BSC2093C Human Anatomy and Physiology I *
  • BSC2094C Human Anatomy and Physiology II *
  • PHA1500 Structure and Function of the Human Body

Transfer of credit, and credit for previously completed Rasmussen courses, for specific required General Education science courses as defined in the program curriculum, may be awarded when the following requirements have been met:

  • Course was completed within five (5) calendar years of the date the student starts in the program.
    • Students who are reentering the same program credential within five quarters of when they withdrew are exempt from the 5-year time limit if the credits were previously earned at Rasmussen University or previously accepted by Rasmussen as official transfer credit with a TR grade posted.
  • Course was completed with a grade of C- or higher.
  • Course credits are at least equal to Rasmussen’s course credit value.
  • If the courses were completed more than five (5) calendar years from the date student starts in the program and/or the course(s) were completed with a grade below C-, the student may, at their own expense, choose to enroll in the Rasmussen self-directed assessment or attempt the Rasmussen credit by examination (test out) for courses covered by this policy. If a score of 78% or higher is achieved in a self-directed assessment or 73% or higher is achieved in a test out exam, Test Out (TO) transfer credit will be awarded.

For Nursing programs:

  • When a new or returning student is scheduled to start their first Nursing courses in their first quarter of enrollment (course prefix NUR), transferred coursework must be completed and proof of completion based on an official transcript provided prior to the first day of the student’s first quarter of enrollment in the program.
  • When a continuing student is scheduled to start their first Nursing courses (course prefix NUR), transferred coursework must be completed and proof of completion based on an official transcript provided to the first day of the quarter in which the Nursing courses are scheduled.

For Health Sciences programs:

  • Transferred coursework must be completed, and proof of completion provided, prior to the first day of the term that the student is scheduled for a course for which the external course is either a prerequisite or corequisite.

For Nursing and Health Sciences programs:

  • When both courses of an eligible two-part Human Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) with lab series have been completed at the same institution or through the same entity, the courses will be eligible to fulfill both BSC2093C Human A&P I and BSC2094C Human A&P II.
  • When Rasmussen Academic Leadership has verified that the content of an external A&P I or A&P II course includes the same body systems as the Rasmussen course, the external course will be eligible to fulfill the Rasmussen course requirement. For example, Rasmussen’s BSC2094C Human A&P II course includes the endocrine system; an external A&P II course that does not include the endocrine system is not eligible to fulfill Human A&P II as transfer credit.
  • See the General Transfer of Credit and Course-by-Course Transfer policies for additional transfer requirements.
