Undergraduate NanoCert® in Geospatial Intelligence

The undergraduate NanoCert in Geospatial Intelligence is a three-course program involving the study of geospatial information systems, applied geospatial intelligence, and geographic information systems.

After successfully completing this NanoCert, the student will be able to:

• Define Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and identify GIS data portals on the internet.
• Describe spatial data and compare the different types of modeling in GIS and when they are appropriate for use in analysis.
• Evaluate how the application of geospatial products can improve future military, intelligence, homeland defense, and law enforcement operations.
• Apply geospatial intelligence analyses to regional or international challenges associated with homeland defense, weather disasters, law enforcement, or sources of conflict.
• Demonstrate the skills to lay out, save, and export geospatial maps using the Toolwire virtual lab using the Esri Geographic Information Systems (ArcMap) software Version 10.1.
• Implement basic ArcGIS® functions relating to databases, layers, labels, and features.
